What Is the Difference Between Watts, Lumens & Colour Temperature?

What Are Watts?
Watts (W) measure the amount of electrical power a light bulb uses.
Years ago, people often chose bulbs based on wattage alone:

- 60W
- 75W
- 100W
With modern LED lighting, wattage is no longer a reliable indicator of brightness.
For example:
- A traditional 60W incandescent bulb produces a similar brightness to a 9–10W LED.
This means today's LED bulbs use significantly less electricity while providing the same light output.
What Are Lumens?
Lumens (lm) measure brightness.
The higher the lumen rating, the brighter the light.
As a general guide:

It doesn't indicate how hot the bulb becomes.
Instead, it describes whether the light appears:

- Neutral
- Cool
Warm White (2700K–3000K)
Warm white creates a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.

Cool White (4000K)
Cool white provides a clean, natural appearance.

Daylight (6000K–6500K)
